On the Easter Vigil of 4 April 2026, His Beatitude, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, presided over a solemn celebration at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre before the empty tomb. This concluded the Sacred Triduum and proclaimed the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In der Osternacht wird das Exsultet gesungen. Wer kann, nehme daran teil. Um Mitternacht ist Vorübergang des Herrn, genaus wie um Mitternacht in der Heiligen Nacht an Weihnachten, Es lohnt sich.

Es sind Finsternisse entstanden, als die Juden den Herrn Jesus gekreuzigt hatten. Und um die neunte Stunde rief der Herr Jesus mit lauter Stimme: „Mein Gott! Mein Gott! Warum hast Du mich verlassen?“ Und mit geneigtem Haupte gab Er Seinen Geist auf.

Solemn Procession of the Most Blessed Sacrament at the conclusion of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass of the Lord’s Supper from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem, celebrated this morning by His Beatitude Pierbattista Cardinal Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem.
I'm sure it wasn't the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. It was a communal meal worship service modeled after the one invented by Cranmer for the English during the Protestant Reformation. Luther hated any liturgy that smacked of sacrifice. We had to do away with sacrifice.
