A trans-identified male has lost an employment discrimination case after alleging that he had been wrongfully fired from his job at a childcare center in Letterkenny. The Workplace Relations Commission found that Aleena Starshine had been terminated not due to his gender identity, but as a result of repeat parental complaints and concerns about child safeguarding.

In my last post I looked at Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira’s concept of the Revolution as outlined in Revolution and Counter-Revolution, which is a defining text of the Tradition, Family and Property movement. In this post I will examine the complementary concept of the Counter-Revolution and provide examples of some of its implications. Much of what makes TFP so controversial, and almost a religion unto itself, are the practices attached to the concept of the Counter-Revolution. These practices are often focused on the imitation of its historical models: “Dr. Plinio” and his mother, Dona (“Lady”) Lucilia.
Corrêa de Oliveira’s Counter-Revolution is, very simply, an elitist reaction to the Revolution. It is just as totalizing in its scope and demands as the Revolution, and thus allows for little compromise or nuance. We would not even exist if God was not every moment causing us to be. We would not be able to act without Him acting in us. We cannot achieve virtue, holiness, or happiness without Him. Jesus put it best: “Without Me you can do nothing” (Jn. 15:5). We have a profound need to pray every day. For 30 years or more, in nearly everything I have written, I have sought to drive home a few key themes:
The Catholic Church is in the midst of a serious crisis;
That crisis is not merely a matter of sexual abuse, or declining Mass attendance, or doctrinal dissent, or financial collapse, or corrupt leadership, or marital breakdown. These are all symptoms of a deeper problem: a crisis of faith.
A crisis of faith cannot be resolved by professional programs or administrative procedures. It will require a spiritual renewal at the level of dioceses, parishes, even households.
So why am I writing today to recommend an administrative change at the Vatican?
Because any administrative system rewards certain attitudes, certain instincts, certain modes of understanding situations, certain likely responses. And the current administrative structure of the Roman Curia favors a way of thought that gives priority to worldly rather than spiritual …

TFP ("Tradition Family and Property") considers itself to be engaged in a mortal conflict with the Left. It consequently tends to depict any trouble it may get into, simply as the violent reaction of the "Revolution" against its heroic opponents, a notion which Introvigne has translated into the fiction of the "anti-cult movement".
Actually, opposition to T.F.P. has come mostly from parents of T.F.P. members, themselves usually Catholic traditionalists, and from conservative and traditionalist Catholic quarters.
